I have spent the last 12 years teaching my children to be comfortable with who they are, what they are capable of, how they look, and be ok about it. Yesterday I was told by a medical professional that something MUST be wrong with my girls because they are short of stature. I was instructed to subject my girls to a barrage of tests and ultimately growth hormones. I told the doctor to stick it where the sun don't shine.

For the Love of Reading

I have the great privilege of being the Mother of kids that love to read.
It brings me such joy to see the world opened up to them via the joys of reading.
Books have so much to teach us.

Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream.  It is an amazing dream.  That got me thinking about my dreams, my hopes, and my desire for a better future.  Nobody can have a future worth anything if they don't learn from their past.  A huge part of my past, my present, and what I know will be in my future is friends and family.  Without them, I would accomplish nothing, not be happy, and not be raising the amazing young woman that I am raising.  So thank you, friends and family, for the love and support.

Mmmmmm Tasty

This is a giant pot of Fettuccine Alfredo that B made for New Year's Eve (also Shanny's birthday).  It fed 12 people with some left over.  I ran across it this morning as I was looking for pics.  It was a good day, good food, good friends.  It made me happy.  Thanks B, thanks cool new Dutch Oven, thanks FA!

Morgan Day

I have the amazing privilege of being friends with Morgan.  She is one of the most kind and giving people that I have ever met in my life.  Today, she is 2700 miles away and donating a kidney to her friend Dawn.  She has lifted my life to a level that it could never attained without her friendship.

Morgan, you are brave, smart, funny, beautiful, and all the things in life that I hope to be.

Thank you for your friendship, generosity, and caring.

We love you and wish you a safe operation and fast healing.  Come home to us soon, we miss you!

This is an adorable picture.  I love the sign.  The rooster (who has no idea that crowing is only supposed to happen as the sun comes up.  He crows day or night with no care for the rest of the world because hey!  He's a rooster) sits above the sign as if he is thinking "Somebody forgot to add my name to the sign".  It made me smile.  Have a wonderful Sunday!
