Embrace Your Inner Dork!

We all have an inner dork.
Today take the time to
embrace it, Love it, appreciate it, and share it.
Life is so much more fun when you are who you really are.
Many thanks to David Raymond for the inspiration.

A boy and his dog

Properly trained, a man can be dog's best friend.  ~Corey Ford

Watching Seth and Aubrey together makes me happy.  She greets him at the door with a hug and is always happy to see him.

Be who you are meant to be!

He who trims himself to suit everyone will soon whittle himself away.
~Raymond Hull~

I have spent the last 12 years teaching my children to be comfortable with who they are, what they are capable of, how they look, and be ok about it. Yesterday I was told by a medical professional that something MUST be wrong with my girls because they are short of stature. I was instructed to subject my girls to a barrage of tests and ultimately growth hormones. I told the doctor to stick it where the sun don't shine.
NEVER be afraid to be you, stand up for your beliefs, and do the right thing!

I may be little but I am tough!

Weather is a great metaphor for life - sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad, and there's nothing much you can do about it but carry an umbrella.  ~Terri Guillemets

On an unrelated note to the weather, K signed the papers for the house yesterday.  A few things can still go wrong but for the most part, it's ours! YAY!

Peace, Love, and Fairy Dust

There are times when I have a hard time pulling myself up out of the mire of negativity.  Today was one of those days.  I sat down and started scrolling through pictures, hoping to find one to cheer me up.  To everyone who had a rough start to their day today, may you be blessed with peace, with love, and with just a little bit of fairy dust!

Get Lost

Try to take some time to
Get Lost Today.
If you take just a few minutes perhaps you can
be as luck as I was to feel isolated surrounded
by the world.
This picture makes me feel all alone in the woods,
but it's just my view to the south off my front porch.
But that one moment of lostness made my day.
So go get lost.

Live for Today

We can easily manage if we will only take, each day, the burden appointed to it. But the load will be too heavy for us if we carry yesterday's burden over again today, and then add the burden of the morrow before we are required to bear it.

For the Love of Reading

I have the great privilege of being the Mother of kids that love to read.
It brings me such joy to see the world opened up to them via the joys of reading.
Books have so much to teach us.
Compassion, Love, Thankfulness, Graciousness,
and the list just never ends.
So today I implore you, pick up a book, share a book, give a book, receive a book,
and be grateful for the gifts that lie within.......

Winter Fairy Glade

It looks like a little pond in a hidden hollow where the fairies will frolic and play in the spring and summer.

The Beauty that Surrounds Us

Each day, awakening, are we asked to paint the sky blue? Need we coax the sun to rise or flowers to bloom? Need we teach birds to sing, or children to laugh, or lovers to kiss? No, though we think the world imperfect, it surrounds us each day with its perfections. We are asked only to appreciate them, and to show appreciation by living in peaceful harmony amidst them.

Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream.  It is an amazing dream.  That got me thinking about my dreams, my hopes, and my desire for a better future.  Nobody can have a future worth anything if they don't learn from their past.  A huge part of my past, my present, and what I know will be in my future is friends and family.  Without them, I would accomplish nothing, not be happy, and not be raising the amazing young woman that I am raising.  So thank you, friends and family, for the love and support.
Thank you for being the base of all my hopes and dreams.
I love you.

Easy Silence

When the calls and conversations
Accidents and accusations
Messages and misperceptions
Paralyze my mind

Busses, cars, and airplanes leaving
Burning fumes of gasoline
And everyone is running
And I come to find a refuge in the

Easy silence that you make for me
It's okay when there's nothing more to say to me
And the peaceful quiet you create for me
And the way you keep the world at bay for me
The way you keep the world at bay

Monkeys on the barricades
Are warning us to back away
They form commissions trying to find
The next one they can crucify

And anger plays on every station
Answers only make more questions
I need something to believe in
Breathe in sanctuary in the

Easy silence that you make for me
It's okay when there's nothing more to say to me
And the peaceful quiet you create for me
And the way you keep the world at bay for me
The way you keep the world at bay

Children lose their youth too soon
Watching war made us immune
And I've got all the world to lose
But I just want to hold on to the

Easy silence that you make for me
It's okay when there's nothing more to say to me
And the peaceful quiet you create for me
And the way you keep the world at bay for me

The easy silence that you make for me
It's okay when there's nothing more to say to me
And the peaceful quiet you create for me
And the way you keep the world at bay for me
The way you keep the world at bay for me
The way you keep the world at bay

Mmmmmm Tasty

This is a giant pot of Fettuccine Alfredo that B made for New Year's Eve (also Shanny's birthday).  It fed 12 people with some left over.  I ran across it this morning as I was looking for pics.  It was a good day, good food, good friends.  It made me happy.  Thanks B, thanks cool new Dutch Oven, thanks FA!

Have good thoughts and a good Friday!

A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely. ~Roald Dahl~

The Dawn of a New Day

It is hard to be unhappy when you
get to see a sight like this in the morning.
The beauty of the world has a way
of making everything else seem
just so worthwhile.

Morgan Day

I have the amazing privilege of being friends with Morgan.  She is one of the most kind and giving people that I have ever met in my life.  Today, she is 2700 miles away and donating a kidney to her friend Dawn.  She has lifted my life to a level that it could never attained without her friendship.

Morgan, you are brave, smart, funny, beautiful, and all the things in life that I hope to be.

Thank you for your friendship, generosity, and caring.

We love you and wish you a safe operation and fast healing.  Come home to us soon, we miss you!

Please send all of your positive energy, prayers, and blessings to Morgan and Dawn today.  Good luck ladies and may the universe keep you safe!

Happy Monday!

You've got a lot of choices. If getting out of bed in the morning is a chore and you're not smiling on a regular basis, try another choice.

This is an adorable picture.  I love the sign.  The rooster (who has no idea that crowing is only supposed to happen as the sun comes up.  He crows day or night with no care for the rest of the world because hey!  He's a rooster) sits above the sign as if he is thinking "Somebody forgot to add my name to the sign".  It made me smile.  Have a wonderful Sunday!

There is nothing quite as beautiful
as the sun
glistening off of the freshly fallen rain.
It makes my Happy Hippie Heart
feel lucky inside.
Lucky to have been blessed with
the time, passion, love, and knowledge
of how important it is to
appreciate beautiful things.

November and December Recaps

I wanted to get the links to November 2010 and December 2010 archive videos up.

In the hustle and bustle of life we often get swept along.
We forget to take those small moments to experience our lives instead of just living them.
Take the time every day to be grateful for the things that are good.
Take the time to notice little things.
Take the time to say "I love you".
Just take the time.
